well we made it to the hotel after a super shady car ride from the airport last night. and this morning, we headed out at about 6:00am to explore our neighborhood. the temp was about 75 with one million percent humitidy, but it was tolerable. immediately, i was struck at the number of people out and about at such an early hour. about six blocks from our hotel is Ho Hoan Kiem, a fairly small lake right in the middle of town, and it was crazy busy with people playing games, running, doing martial arts, meditating - you name it. and the cool part was there were all ages there. no way would you see a group of 80-90 year old women in the park doing jumping jacks and other exercises back in WI. it was really neat to see.

below are a few pictures i made on the walk. i'm probably going to only post up a few per day, but will be making a gallery on my web page of my favorite pictures when i get home. we're off to Halong Bay tomorrow, so stay tuned!
