arriving to sapa

we arrived in sapa about an hour ago. it's actually about 30km from the train station, and the drive was pretty much straight up, much like driving through the first part of the rockies with tons of switch-backs. We are very high up - into the clouds and it's the first time we have seen the sun since we arrived in vietnam. it's a nice change.

It's chilly up here, and we'll be wearing our pants and jackets as we explore the area. We have wait until noon to check in, to we're off to see the town until then. We may rent some moto bikes later on which seems like the best way to see the countryside here. may more photos to come, but here's one i got with my point and miss driving up...
