camera gear

some of you have asked about the camera gear i am taking, so i thought i'd put up a last minute post to fill you in. and i realize this is a bit nerdy / techy, so if that's not your thing, you might want to stop reading right about . . . . now.

here's some of what I'm taking:

-nikon d300 body gripped
-nikon d80 body gripped (thanks Dil)
-nikon 70-200 vr 2.8
-nikon 17-55 2.8
-nikon 50 1.4 (thanks again Dil)
-nikon sb800 flash
-lacie rugged 500 gb external hd
-pocket wizard plus x2
-gorillapod focus tripod
-sandisk cf card reader
-b+w 3.0 nd and circular polarizer filters
-lots of sandisk ultra II and extreme III cf cards
-lots of sayno eneloop AA batteries

not pictured:
-macbook pro 13"
-canon sd1100 IS point and miss camera
-think tank streetwalker pro backpack
-usb, firewire 800 /400 cables
-nikon 8 pin shutter release

it all fits in the backpack perfectly:

as far as other electronics, all i'm taking is my iphone. i've downloaded tons of my favorite podcasts - APM: the story, NPR: car talk, frontline, PRI: to the best of our knowledge, and world vision report. Also, I loaded up a bunch of new crossword puzzles on my 2 across app, have doodle jump to keep me busy, and am going to download a new audiobook - problem is i can't decide which one i want to get. it's between 'into thin air', 'abraham lincoln : vampire hunter', and 'riding lessons' by sara gruen, the author that wrote 'water for elephants', one of the best stories i have ever read. decisions, decisions....

by the way, have i said how much i like my iphone?
